Oregano Za’atar is a small, woody perennial with an upright growing habit with soft green-grey aromatic leaves.
This herb grows naturally in Israel, Jordan and surrounding countries. Za’atar is the Arabic name for Oreganum syriacum and the plant has a long history, including recorded use in Ancient Egypt. Other common names include Wild Za’atar, Wild Middle Eastern Oregano, Wild Thyme, or Lebanese Oregano. Oregano also has powerful healing properties including use as a painkiller, anti-septic and anti-inflammatory.
