Every Spring people rush into their local garden centre and grab a few Petunias, but with seedling prices ranging from $2.00 to $4.00 per punnet and most nurseryman only putting in 6 seedlings per punnet. Petunias are a popular way to fill your garden with beautiful Spring and Summer colour. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best.

With our full tray of 50 promotion, Chris wanted everybody on any income to be able to have as many plants as they need to create an abundance of colour in their garden. So what he did is do away with expensive single colour seedlings and use mixed colour seed. He did away with wasteful plastic punnets and labels and filled the whole tray with 50 giant healthy Petunia seedlings. We also grow other seedlings at other times of the year. This has won us more new customers than any other promotion and has become one of our most popular products.

Petunias are easy to grow and you can plant them in pots and hanging baskets. All they need is good potting mix or a well cultivated bed. We recommend Devotion™ premium potting mix and cultivate your beds with Devotion™ planting mixes. If your garden is colourless plant them between the other shrubs and trees, they also look incredible planted underneath Roses, Standards and Weepers. Petunias can grow about 50cm square so a tray of 50 seedlings can cover a large area. To have a nice mix of colour in each pot or basket plant 2 or 3 seedlings together.

Plant your seedlings by grabbing each plant firmly and tearing it away from the rest of the seedlings with a good ball of earth and roots. Then plant gently tucking the root ball just beneath the surface of some soft earth or potting mix. After planting, water them in well and top dress with Devotion™ Time release Fertilizer. Pinch off any flowers and foliar feed by spraying Devotion™ Liquid Fertilizer. After 2-3 weeks the slow release fertiliser will begin to work and you don’t need to keep foliar feeding. Fertilizing and pinching off the flowers will help you develop large bushes before you start having a lot of flowers and if you top dress every 2-3 months with Devotion™ Time release Fertilizer you will have beautiful Petunia bushes with an abundance of flowers.

Have a colourful Petunia season and get in quick to avoid disappointment! If you buy and plant your Petunias in mid September they will take root and grow quickly flowering in 3-4 weeks.
